Up for sale is a good condition example of an old French 1816 short musket in .69 caliber made in 1820. The gun was later converted to percussion and was used in the Franco Prussian war where it was captured by German forces as evident by the 2-unit markings. The first crossed out unit marking is to a Calvary unit and the later marking appears to be a Bavarian infantry regiment. Overall, a unique French Musket that saw extensive service before being captured and used as a supplemental weapon for German forces during the Franco Prussian war.
